call me cat: how I got my name
Cat is my name. I chose it in 3rd grade because “Catherine Dunleavy” was way too long for me to write on every school assignment. So I shortened it.
Despite my occasional denial of this fact, I wore a sign around my neck saying “Call me Cat” during the transition period. It’s a little embarrassing looking back, but it was effective, and Cat became my name.
This was my first memorable lesson in branding and effective marketing. (Although I didn’t know it at the time...)
If you want people to know something about you, your project, or your business, you have to actually tell them! And you have to tell them in a way that they’ll connect with and remember.
8-year-old Catherine wanted people to know that I was changing my name. My method of conveying that information was through a simple message displayed on handmade signs that I crafted in art class. The location of the message, its repetition, and its playfulness helped my classmates remember.
That’s what I’m offering through my design services. Simple and effective messaging that let’s your clients and customers know what you have to offer and what’s important to you.
If you need help with this, please reach out. Let’s tell people whatever it is that you need to tell them, in a simple and effective way. I’ll help you craft and display your message in a creative, direct and honest way.
